Trees Like Torches Blazed With Light

The Elven Warhorse stallion folded his legs under himself once he reached the safety of the cave. His heart was hammering in his chest from running from the forest fire.

To calm himself he began to sing a song he's heard dwarves singing a dozen moons ago when he'd last passed by Mist Mountain. 
  
  The pines were roaring on the height
the winds were moaning in the night
the fire was red, it flaming spread;
the trees like torches blazed with light"  

He watched the thick plumes of smoke rise and darken the night sky.

The moons glow barely pushing through.

Exhaustion caught up to the stallion and he closed his eyes and let sleep take him.

He hoped that the inferno hadn’t destroyed too much of his homeland…..

Yes horses can't sing in the conventional way but I kinda imagined it like he would be making a series of horse noises that translate into the dwarfs words I've had a lot of sugar today  

The background isn't the best but I haven't drawn a landscape like this before. I spent ages on it. I hope  it looks like what it's supposed to aha
